The Local Health Unit of Gaia and Espinho (ULSGE) has strengthened its diagnostic capabilities with the implementation of a new Angiography Suite and a state-of-the-art Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) system. This upgrade was made possible through a strategic collaboration between Sotécnica and GE HealthCare, combining technical expertise and cutting-edge medical technology to enhance the quality of healthcare services.

Sotécnica and GE HealthCare Modernize Medical Imaging at Gaia and Espinho Health Unit

The newly installed Angiography Suite enables detailed imaging of blood vessels, improving diagnostic precision for cardiovascular and neurological conditions. This system significantly reduces radiation dosage while enhancing image quality, delivering safer and more comfortable procedures for patients. Sotécnica was responsible for the execution of the specialized technical infrastructure required for the equipment, while GE HealthCare provided the advanced medical technology.

The newly operational MRI system complements this modernization by expanding the diagnostic capacity of the unit in areas such as Radiology and Neuroradiology. These enhancements are reducing waiting times and improving operational efficiency, directly benefiting both patients and medical staff.

This partnership also extends to other leading healthcare institutions. At Santo António Hospital, a high-precision MRI system was installed with technical support from Sotécnica.

Meanwhile, at the São João University Hospital Center (CHUSJ), the installation of a PET/CT imaging room with state-of-the-art technology marked another significant step in the modernization of medical imaging in Portugal.
