Brand Stories: José Gonçalves, Electrical Team Leader

Can you introduce yourself in a few words? What role do you play in the company?

My name is José Gonçalves, I am 50 years old and I have been working in Sotécnica for about 30 years. Currently I am a Team Leader at Electrical Building Solutions, Sotécnica’s business unit dedicated to low and medium voltage electrical installations.

What´s your job role about? What impact you believe your work has on people’s daily lives?

As a Team Leader, I am part of a group that is led by the foreman. Together, we analyze the project and planning and decide on the tasks to be carried out, their interdependence with other contracts, the associated risks, the necessary materials, the human resources, and tools involved and the required execution deadlines. The role of Team Leader is also important in supporting the training of technicians who carry out the work and in transmitting the progress of the work to the leadership.

What safety measures do you consider to be fundamental within your daily tasks?

In my opinion, the best way to guarantee the safety in the execution of the works is its good organization. In the various tasks we perform, it is essential to know the risks associated with each one so that we can reduce and eliminate the risk of accident.

I am particularly proud to witness the growth and development of Sotécnica, which, despite having gone from family management to more business management, has managed to maintain the values that have been passed on to us since its foundation..

What does it mean for you to be part of Sotécnica brand?

It is a great pride, for me to be part of this great Sotécnica family. I was happy to join the company as a servant, when I was still young, and here to learn, evolve and develop almost everything I know and practice today. I am particularly proud to witness the growth and development of Sotécnica, which, despite having gone from family management to more business management, has managed to maintain the values that have been passed on to us since its foundation.
