Tell us a little about yourself!
My name is Sónia de Jesus Garcia, I’m 44 years old and I’ve been working at Sotécnica for 24 years. I am an administrative assistant and provide support to two production BU: EBS (Electrical Building Solutions) e ETS (Engineering & Transport Solutions).
What are your duties and how would you describe the impact your work has on people’s daily lives?
Let’s say that my duties are the starting point for the long-term tests (works) that we do. My role is related to administrative support for the ongoing projects. From procurement and logistics as well as all the rest of the process inherent to the purchased materials, checking and preparing timesheets, help in drawing up subcontracting contracts, attending to suppliers, etc.
I see myself very much in the spirit of promoting good mood and cooperation, having as a direct result the existence of a good working environment, in order to facilitate the day-to-day of the teams that are on site and in the office, not forgetting the colleagues who, together with me, provide administrative support, as I understand that it is one of the foundations to achieve positive results.
If the marathon is well prepared, we will reach the winning post on the first places together, as has been the habit throughout these years at Sotécnica.
In your journey of more than 20 years at Sotécnica, what outstanding experiences has Sotécnica given you?
When I joined the company, I was very young and with little professional experience.
I went to work for the former Studies and Projects department, and my role was to cut and fold technical drawings.
Luckily, I found managers who believed in me and who recognized in me potential to evolve.
I went through several departments, which allowed me to perform different tasks and gain more experience, reflecting on my professional and personal growth. The biggest lessons learned from this journey are teamwork, fellowship and the spirit of mutual help!
I am proud of having managed to conquer, among my many colleagues, some friends for life!
What do you envision for yourself at Sotécnica in the near future?
I hope to continue with the same professional stability that Sotécnica has given me over these two decades, because I believe that without it, nothing works in the other areas of our lives, especially in the family context.
I feel motivated and I believe my potential will be recognized to continue to progress and embrace new challenges.
