Pumping Station PS70 (Doha) – Telemetry and SCADA System

PS70 Pumping Station in Qatar: a success story.

The PS70 pumping station is used to channel Doha wastewater to a treatment plant, 25 km north of the city. The project forecasted the construction of a pumping station with a capacity of 900,000 m3/day and the placement of more than 45 km of piping with a diameter of 1,600 mm.

Actemium was responsible for supplying the telemetry and SCADA system to the North Doha sewage pumping station. The construction began in March 2009 and was completed in 2012.

The EPC contract for the supply of telemetry and SCADA included:

  • Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition situated in Administration Building Control Room.
  • Screening Chamber Control Cabinet
  • Lifting Station Train A Control Cabinet
  • Lifting Station Train B Control Cabinet
  • Forwarding Station Train A Control Cabinet
  • Forwarding Station Train B Control Cabinet
  • PS 70 Fibre Optic ring Switches, patch panels and ancillary equipment (Fibre optic cable out of scope of supply)
  • Rising Mains Crossover Chambers RTU’s
  • Rising Mains Fibre Optic and Power Supply link to RTU’s ancillary equipment (Fibre optic cable and power supply cable out of scope of supply)

 

The supervision system was based on a WinCC SCADA system, connected to a GPS clock for time synchronization.

All the PLC and SCADA servers communicate through a SM Fibre Optic ring with switches, Scalance.. The communication with the Crossover chambers is also done with the SM Fiber Optic ring. The field equipment was connected through the Fieldbus Foundation network and hardwired with or without Hart protocol.
