70 years creating the Energy of the future | Ep. 02 – “Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation”

Calouste Sarkis Gulbenkian was an engineer, entrepreneur, philanthropist and an art collector. Born in Armenia and later naturalized as British, Gulbenkian found his last home in Lisbon, contributing largely to the promotion of culture in Portugal.

To satisfy the wishes of Mr. Gulbenkian, whose assets he bequeathed to the country in the form of an institution, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation moved forward with a public tender for the development of a real estate project in the center of Lisbon. The project included the construction of the Foundation’s Headquarters, Museum and Art Library.

The technological innovation involved in building the Foundation made it a national and international reference project, to which Sotécnica contributed with the contract of technical installations, from electricity to security systems, video surveillance and audio and translation for visitors.

With the fundamental purpose of improving people’s quality of life through art, charity, science and education, the Foundation has become a landmark in Lisbon, projecting the country to the rest of the world.
